A Texas man, 20-year-old Cesar Hernandez, was arrested in Las Vegas this afternoon as a suspect in the killing of his mother.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Nevada Fugitive Investigative Strike Team (FIST) arrested Hernandez near East Tropicana Avenue and Maryland Parkway.

Hernandez is wanted by the Dallas Police Department for the alleged murder of his 43-year-old mother, Esther Hernandez, authorities said.

Esther Hernandez's husband found her body inside a closet of the family home on Mother's Day, May 10, according to Dallas Police. Her family had reported her missing on May 8.

Information developed by the Dallas Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Dallas-Fort Worth Fugitive Apprehensive Strike Team led investigators to believe that Hernandez might have fled to the Las Vegas Valley after the woman's murder, authorities said.

The U.S. Marshals Nevada FIST conducted an investigation and found Hernandez in Las Vegas, where he was arrested without incident. Hernandez has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center until his extradition to Texas is arranged.
