Letter to the Editor:
It seems politicians like their insurance
Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 | 2:02 a.m.
If government-subsidized health care is not good for the American people, then it must also not be good for members of Congress who receive government-subsidized health care. Right?
My guess is that not a single politician will decline his “right” to government-subsidized health care. But a whole bunch of them would deny the same to average citizens. Can anyone explain that to me?

Do as I say, not as I do. Whats good for the goose (read us ) is not good for the gander (read them ). Why would the legislatures give up their luxury care to get into a half baked, limited coverage program? As usual with Washington, those that create the rules, do not have to follow them - their a special case, just ask them.
It is time for WE, THE PEOPLE, demand that the policians and all government recipients drop their federal health insurance and join the rest of us in buying private insurance. I guarantee you that as soon as one of them, or the family members is denyed health insurance for a pre-existing condition that part of our concerns will end.
Nancy Reagan, HW Bush and congressional members both would have been up in arms if their loved ones had been denied health care under the federal insurance plan. Can you imagine the furor if Barabara Bush had been denied her heart surgery for something like a 'pre-existing condition? What if Ronald Reagan had been denied federal insurance supported care for his Alzheimer condition?
Our own former congressman Jon Porter secured a very expensive ear surgery procedure at Bethesda. What if that ear problem had been cited as a 'pre-existing condition'?
For the congressional members now covered by our federal health insurance no such incident has ever happened to them...Senator Richard Byrd is a decrepit, senile senator from Virginia that would never let that happen to him...you could take that to the bank!
