Five Valley High School students were taken to a hospital this morning after the bus they were riding in side-swiped a silver BMW as they arrived at the school, Metro Police said.

The 67 students on the bus were arriving about 8 a.m. when the bus driver started to turn left from Eastern Avenue into the school yard, police said.

The bus then side-swiped the car, police said. Southbound Eastern Avenue traffic was shut down until 9 a.m., police said.

The driver of the BMW was also complaining of minor injuries, police said.

Metro's accident detail was investigating the collision, but said that the bus driver was expected to be cited.
