Evening closures scheduled on D Street

Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 | 1:59 a.m.

D Street/Washington Ave. interchange

Evening closures are scheduled this week on D Street near Interstate 15 as work continues on the freeway.

The road closures will be from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each evening beginning Sunday. The road is expected to return to a regular traffic pattern at 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Crews will be removing temporary structures used in the I-15 north widening project.

The D Street/Washington Avenue on-ramp to I-15 southbound will remain closed until January 2010.

Evergreen Avenue to get new surface

Evergreen Ave. interchange

Part of Evergreen Avenue in Las Vegas will be closed for a week for what city officials called “preventative maintenance.”

The road will be closed between Decatur Boulevard and Brush Street beginning Tuesday and ending Sept. 21 while crews resurface the road.

Traffic on Evergreen will be detoured to Charleston Boulevard and Alta Drive during the closure.

Motorists trying to reach the Arizona Charlie’s Hotel and Casino will be able to do so via Decatur while the entrances from Evergreen are closed.

Local residents will be given access to the road, city officials said.

Sewer line work to affect Craig Road

Craig Road work

Lanes on Craig Road will be closed temporarily to allow North Las Vegas to work on sewer lines near the new Craig Ranch Regional Park.

The city is turning the former golf course into a 135-acre park.

Installation of the new sewer line under the eastbound lanes of Craig Road between Commerce and Revere streets is expected to begin Monday and take eight weeks.

While work is being done, motorists can expect lane closures, lane shifts and travel delays, the city said.

Traffic signal to flash red at Decatur and Alta

Decatur Boulevard

The traffic signal at the intersection of Decatur Boulevard and Alta Drive is scheduled to flash red for a half hour on Tuesday morning.

Drivers should treat the traffic signal as a four-way stop while the lights flash red from 10:30 to 11 a.m.

There are not expected to be any traffic lane restrictions on either road while the light is flashing red, but motorists should proceed with caution and be prepared for delays.

The city has been working on the intersection since the beginning of July. In addition to a new signal, crews have repaved part of the road and are improving the sidewalks to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

I-15 ramps in California to close

I-15 ramp closures

While blasting is complete on Interstate 15 at Mountain Pass near the Nevada-California border, work on the highway continues and will require ramp closures at Nipton Road this week.

The on- and off-ramps at Nipton Road will be closed on the northbound side of the interstate from 6 a.m. Monday to 6 p.m. Tuesday, the California Department of Transportation announced.

The on- and off- ramps on the southbound side of the road will then be closed from 6 a.m. Wednesday to 6 p.m. Thursday.

Caltrans is widening about 12 miles of the interstate to add a new northbound truck-descending lane in the area around Mountain Pass.

The $91 million project also includes upgrades to the southbound truck-climbing lane and other improvements in the area. It is expected to be finished next summer.

Discussion: 2 comments so far…

  1. When will the D Street/Washington Avenue off-ramp from I-15 northbound re-open?

  2. I just called NDOT to double check for you, dart330. The D Street/Washington Avenue off-ramp from I-15 northbound is currently open, but there are delays in the area while work continues on the freeway at D Street.

The exit ramp from northbound I-15 reopened Aug. 31 and the exit ramp from southbound I-15 opened Sept. 4. The on-ramp to southbound I-15 will be closed until January.
