Republicans’ criticisms aren’t logical, helpful

One has to wonder: Do Republicans wish to self destruct or are they simply unaware?
There are the tea-bag party movement individuals who continue to denounce President Barack Obama’s health care proposals with such ludicrous assertions that the plan includes euthanizing Grandma to save money, and that the state helping its citizens is tantamount to socialism — but ignoring at the same time those “socialist” programs of Medicare and Social Security.
Then there was the shrill accusation from the right — before hearing or reading a word of the president’s speech — that through his plan to speak to the nation’s schoolchildren the president was “brainwashing” America’s youth and, again, was promoting a socialist agenda.
And Wednesday evening in the Capitol, there was South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson screaming “You lie!” to the president — when the president made it clear that there would be no medical benefits available for illegal immigrants — and later apologizing for the unprecedented and unwarranted outburst.
The bottom line is clear: Republicans seem desperate — not so much as to do what is right for the nation — but rather to do everything they can to get reelected.

The republicans also said taking over the auto industry was wrong as Obama claimed it wasn't in the plan. Republicans said the stimulus was full of waste as Obama claimed Joe would watch it.
We are told "the bill" doesn't include many of the items being yelled about, but as usual, Obama has 5 bills in the Congress and hasn't designated one to read and see if "he LIES".
The confusion and rambling is not an accident. He keeps confusion at his side as he attempts to drag in more and more power. This government is out of control, and yes, it lies.
Wed nite Obama called 50% of the nation liars for not trusting or believing him.
Obama in his address to the nation call opposition positions (Harry called them evilmonger and Nancy called them un-American) on 5 issues "a lie, plain and simple"

To all who think Obama was lying: Factcheck.org gives Obama an overall thumbs up on his speech. Of course there were a few exaggerations, but he wasn't flat out lying as so many are depicting. Since when has there ever been a politician who flat out told the honest truth about anything. Creating this BIG controversy about a supposed "lie" is merely a smear campaign for political points. And, why is it all of a sudden worse for Obama to allegedly "lie" about something not inherently good or bad, than for Bush to completely lie about Iraq? I believe this is just childish revenge for the eight years of legitimate complaining.

Now the above is right from factcheck. I believe that is a little more than an exaggeration.
Also, do you believe that the federal government, no matter who is in charge, can all of a sudden eliminate waste and fraud from any a program such as medicare to pay for this. That would be a very exciting breakthrough indeed.
I am all for reform, but the rush seems to be a way to just get something done that may not be the best we can do.

These four positions are logically related. How come I hear opposition politicians only supporting one of the positions? Does SC Senator Joe Wilson have the courage to announce his support for all four positions, a logical consequence of his political philosophy?
1. End socialized education - and dramatically drop state spending. No mandatory K-12.
2. End socialized medicine - and cut my payroll taxes - no Medicare.
3. End socialized retirement - and cut my payroll taxes - no Social Security.
4. Stop socialized national health care.

Republicans think right now, "If we do nothing right now, we get everything by default". But what they should be doing is making plans for the future, as in "We The People". But as in every political agenda, its not doing something for the masses but what it is in it for themselves.
Hey Vegasvampire: If you were a Congressman, would you take the time to write a bill when you know that the opposing political party controlled the entire process and your bill would never make it out of sub committee to be debated by the full committee?
HR-3200 is a Democrat bill supposedly written by SEIU and entered into the House without consulting Republications. It made it to the full floor of the House and is waiting for Nancy Polosi to call for a vote. Republican lawmakers submitted several amendments to HR-3200 but each one was voted down along party lines. One of these amendments that was voted down was a very simple bill to clarify that no illegal aliens would obtain any benefits from this bill.
It takes two teams to play ball and the Democrats have not invited the Republicans to play ball with them.

valentino. You might want to do some research. If you believe the real estate market bursting was the cause of the economic crisis, you're probably right. So research Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac - and who was pushing for the sub-prime loans. Also see if your research leads you to the fact that George Bush alerted congress to the problems but his warnings fell on deaf ears.
If you find that you had been misled about this matter, it would be well worth the time you spent on it. I'm not defending Bush, I believe there's plenty of blame to go around. However to say he caused this economic downturn is simply inaccurate.

The planet where I wasn't fearful I would lose my house. The one that didn't have 20% of americans unemployed. The one that wasn't 9 trillion dollars indebt. The one that I wasn't scared of homeland security. The one that allowed me to speak my mind without being called a nazi,mobster,un-american. The one that most were united and not hating each other because of party lines. The one that had national prayer day for all americans, not just moslems. The one where we portrayed our country as strong instead of tea and cookies solves the world woes. I could go on but whats the use, it just makes me sad.

The Department of Homeland Security was created during the Bush administration on November 25, 2002. The Bush administration repeatedly used the "threat level" meter as a political weapon instead of a legitimate tool according to Tom Ridge, the first DHS secretary.
Name calling has been a constant in American history. Freedom of speech isn't just for you, its for everyone. That doesn't mean you can't rag on it. For instance, when someone points out that Barack Obama is a "Fascist Communist" I tend to point out that Fascism and Communism are polar opposites.
