LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Quest for power blinds some in GOP
Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009 | 2:02 a.m.
Is there something in the water that is causing such mass insanity? The furor over President Barack Obama’s speech Tuesday to the nation’s schoolchildren was unbelievable. And, all of a sudden, President Obama is taking a beating because he hasn’t made a mess that took years to make better in seven months.
When he took office I was so happy he was reaching out to Republicans — never thinking that rather than joining to try to do what will help our country, they would simply join forces, go against everything and just say no.
I know Republicans want to be in power again, and I don’t want any party to have utter and complete control, as in six of the previous eight years, but is this the way to do it?
I am hoping that in the cold light of morning it will become obvious that this is not the way to win hearts and votes. This country is in big trouble, and working together to try to make it better might help.

He reached out with the comment in the meeting in April "we won".
He reaches out when he talks of Republicans needing to compromise, which means, his way or the highway.
This is the most partisan President this country has had in decades. The administration amateurs are digging themselves deeper and deeper with their radical appointments as they transfer power from the people and Congress, to appointed bureaucrats.
It's time for change. It's time to change our Congress and stop this madness.
Hey Bonnie: What do you mean by mass insanity: That sounds more like (MSNBC TALKING POINTS) George Bush (43) and Barack Obama two guys that never held down a real job in there life. But at least Bush did not try and tell people how to live there life or how they should raise there kids in life as well. And you say that this country is in big trouble' Well with the Socialist in the Majority your damm right it is. BIG TIME!
When he took office I [Bonnie L. Armstrong] was so happy he was reaching out to Republicans.
When Obama went on TV Wed he called positions of those blue dog Democrats, independents and conservative who do not trust or believe Obama's, Reid's, or Pelosi's healthcare positions are on 5 issues "a lie, plain and simple"
Say again - Obama said they are liars, plain and simple.
That is reaching out - hardly
Liberals have been chanting
"Yes we can - because we won" since the election.
Obama, Harry and Nancy do not need a single conservative vote in congress to pass anything - so they do not have to use any conservative input.
It is very evident that Obama, Harry and Nancy are tone deaf over feedback from tea parties, townhalls, phone calls, and e-mails if you are a concerned independent or conservative.
Once again, do Democrats ever get tired of listening to their own hypocrisy?
It's nice to see somebody saying pseudo rebulicans instead of retarded republicans, makes me want to hug a bird, I mean a tree
I will agree with Bonnie when she wrote: "This country is in big trouble..."
Bonnie wrote " Mr Obama was taking a beating" From whom? Michelle?
The Burrittobandit2 must have had extra hot sauce in his breakfast burrito this morning...
The ghostcommander must have had something really sour in his burrito today... Hey commander, do you know the meaning of the term "Teabaggers" and why are you using it if you do?
Hey commander, it appears like the President has already read all of those books, because like you said: "In order for brainwashing to be effective, it has to be subtle and repeated constantly over a long period of time."
Kinda like all the speeches the President has been making lacking in substance and long in rhetoric.
Response to Bonnie's letter is living proof that Republicans are Revisionist. We had a do nothing Republican Congress for 6 years. Now we have a do nothing opposition. The Revisionist asks what has the President done to change the economy? What has he done about Afghanistan? The revisionists let this go for 8 years and now want a miracle in 8 months. Verbal incendiary hand grenades are not the answer. You are either part of the solution (join in and publish your plans) or you are part of the problem (spouting off insults without sound basis).
Hey RGFranklin: HR-3400 is a health reform bill introduced by Rep Tom Price of Georgia on 07/30/09. It has 34 co-sponsors. It is still in committee and will probably not see the light of day due to the Democrats controlling all committee actions.
Of course, the only bill to make it out of committee was HR-3200.
With the Democrats controlling Congress, they probably will not allow a competing bill to make it out of committee for a full vote of the House.
RGFranklin - when you said "join in and publish your plans" I assume you have heard the liberals say that the Republicans have not offered up any health-care plan - and you believed it simply because you wanted to. Maybe I'm wrong. In any event, they have put forth 35 plans to date - start here:

The president refuses to acknowledge them, as do most liberals because it isn't exactly what they want to pass. They are not the least bit interested in bi-partisanship, they only talk about it.
President G.H.W. Bush made a mistake to pander to the other party and look what it did to him. He ended up breaking his "No New Taxes" promise and ended up becoming President for one term. That is why his son never gave an inch to the other party.
George Bush never won an election, Al Gore
won in 2000. If Al was president there would
be no Iraq War and no economy mess.
If Al Gore became President we wouldn't have Current TV and that nice little crisis with their 2 Reports that Bill Clinton had to bail out in North Korea.
