Sounds like my friends at Politico are the latest to be treated to the Oscar Goodman shtick. You know the routine: The mayor talks, says whatever comes into his head and hopes he isn’t called on it. Goodman told local reporters Thursday that Politico had interviewed him about his political aspirations and he gave the reporter his standard line: “I am seriously considering the potential of a run at higher office. I’m exploring whether ... a nonpartisan is able to win a statewide election.” I hear he is emboldened by polls that say he can win as an independent (not a chance) and that he has told people he is going to run (oh, I hope so). But he really cares about one thing, the same thing he has always cared about: attention.
