LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Conservatives’ rage an embarrassment

Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 | 2:01 a.m.

What has the Republican Party become?

It has become a party of crybabies, whiners and name-callers. Never have I ever, in all my years, experienced such meanness and hatefulness toward a president of the United States who, by all common sense, deserves our respect.

Why is it that the ones who have everything (including insurance) are so angry? I get ashamed when I see the hatred displayed at the town-hall meetings. And yet the ones who have very little are the ones who are patient and hopeful.

What is wrong with health care for all? What is it that so many do not understand? The fact is if you are satisfied with the health insurance you have, you may keep it. Why prevent others from having the same?

Now the straw that breaks the camel’s back: Schools were told by conservatives not to let students hear President Barack Obama speak. What is that all about? How sad it is when we deny our students the right to hear and experience what their president will tell them.

This would almost be comical if it were not for the fact it is so sad.
