Catherine Miller Franklin, known to her friends as Kate, died in Boulder City on July 25.

She was born Dec. 29, 1918, in Lachute, Quebec, and graduated from Lachute High School in 1939. She entered nursing training at the Montreal General Hospital and graduated in 1942. After two years at that hospital, she joined National Breweries as an industrial nurse.

In 1949, she married Harold F. Franklin and went to live in California. In 1980 they moved to Florida and in 1986 to Boulder City.

She enjoyed her many years working in nursing. In later years she worked with her husband, Harold, in several businesses in California before they retired.

Her kindness, willingness to help others, years of volunteering and warm friendship, as well as her love of bridge, knitting and baking among many interests, will be remembered fondly.

Kate was preceded in death by brothers Charles and Robert, sisters Anne and Lulu and her husband of 50 years, Harold.

She is survived by her stepchildren, Warren Franklin and wife Norah, Sydney Franklin, Constance Kenney and husband Ted and Beverley Gregor-Pearce and their families; as well as her relatives, Ivy Jost of West Chester Pa., and Sheila and Jim Campbell of Lachute, Quebec.

Cremation has taken place and committal will take place at a later date in the family plot in Lachute, Quebec.

A memorial gathering of friends to celebrate Kate's life will be held in Boulder City on Sept. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lake Mountain Estates Clubhouse.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a group of your choice.
