Letter to the editor:
Extreme right is hindering progress
Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 | 2:04 a.m.
I’m having a hard time believing what I have been seeing as of late. No matter what the current administration does, the members of the right fight it.
Whether it’s health care or a message to school kids to focus on their education or anything in between, the right fights it. It seems the right would rather see the country fail than see the Obama administration succeed.
How is this administration supposed to do anything in a bipartisan manner when all you get form the other side of the aisle is “no”?
The right keeps putting out its half-truths and outright lies and the rest of us are left with a Congress that is unable to get anything done.

And during the last administration, the dems stood in the way of everything and called the president every name in the book, including liar, not able to lead, etc, etc. Did you have any comments about that when it was taking place?? I didn't think so. So when nothing was getting done due to the outright lies of the dems towards George Bush, that was OK with you??
Birdie - why don't you post your standard copy to this "retarded republicans, whore doctors, rich people being greedy, etc, etc." You know, we still won't beleive it no matter how many times you repeat it, we can't be brain washed and the kool aid doesn't work.
It's not the "extreme right" that is opposing Obama--its the masses of Americans who are sick and tired of the intrusion by this President and his administration into the lives of everyday Americans. Enough is enought! Changes are coming in 2010!
The only thing progressive about health care is progressing towards bankruptcy for this once great country.
O'Connor and his lib koolaid friends are so full of it.
For the last 8 years, all they did was hammer the Bush and never give him credit for anything.
Funny, I thought the problem was the extreme left trying to ram absolute garbage down the throats of hard working Americans.
They are on to the idiots in Congress who don't read anything and POTUS for failing to lead.
He appoints commies as czars, can't stop compaigning and can't communicate clearly (even with shills in the room) his direction on health care. I am sure these are all Bush's fault as well.
Hey, loony left, your wake up call is ringing.....
Socialism is for losers!
brownln4: Unfortunately the last President got everything he wanted. A bogus war, tax cuts for the rich, unfunded medicare increases, underfunded no child left behind, etc. That's why we're in this mess. And he even did it without making coherent sentences!
Gordon- and your guy wants health care money and stimulus money ( I know for Bush's mess he left behind ) and he wants to cut medicare to pay for his health care and on and on. If you think Bush left a mess, what till you see this mess after the dems and Obama are done. Hopefully, in 2013, when we have a new face in the White House, this can be undone and we can get back to some level headed thinking in this country and not just reading a teleprompter of what someone else wrote. As far as the "bogus " war, I'm glad Bush was there to prevent any other attacks on this country - take the fight to them, do not wait for it to come to you.
The writer is completely wrong with saying "Extreme right is hindering progress"
No mr. writer. get ready now...
It is the "MIDDLE" that is hindering progress of the Administration and Congress who have crammed legislation down are throats and are trying to move this country into a direction that we do not want to go...
Japan, Germany, Switzerland, they all have National Health care programs. Are they losers?
They have products and companies respected the world over.
Let me shift my Porsche Turbo into sixth gear..
National Health-care will pass and the mindless dittoheads will be the first to sign-up.
Japan, Germany got their butt kicked in the war and Switzerland was too cowardly to get involved. Yes they are losers as are the ones who want to have Obama's "Free Care for Freeloaders" program.
"Japan, Germany got their butt kicked in the war and Switzerland was too cowardly to get involved."
World War II? Are you for real?
When all you can do is bring up something that happened over a half-century ago (and well before any of these nations adopted Universal Health Care), you show just how incredibly weak your argument is.
"The only thing progressive about health care is progressing towards bankruptcy for this once great country."
Funny, jlb. You finally said something that makes sense. I know you didn't mean it like I first read it, but it's great. That's exactly what our current health care system is doing.
"its the masses of Americans who are sick and tired of the intrusion by this President and his administration into the lives of everyday Americans" oh, yeah, this guy is really in my everyday life, just like the republicans who tell people who they can and can't sleep with, and that they can't have an abortion...
President Obama is doing what the majority of
Americans voted for. If the minority does not
like it, that's to bad.
