80-year-old man critically injured crossing street

An 80-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday night when he was struck by a car while crossing the street, Metro Police said.

Evidence indicates the man was crossing West Oakey Boulevard at South Verde Jardin Way about 8:15 p.m. when he was hit by a 1999 Toyota Camry headed east on Oakey, police said. The intersection is near Jones Boulevard.

The pedestrian, James Wilcox of Las Vegas, entered into the right eastbound travel lane and was struck, police said. He was taken to University Medical Center, where he was in critical condition.

The driver of the car was identified as Victoria Rodriguez, 50, of Las Vegas. The accident is under investigation by Metro’s Accident Investigaiton Detail.
