Drowning
A 19-year-old Las Vegas man who drowned Sunday in Lake Mohave has been identified as Michael Wilson.
The Clark County Coroner's Office said an official cause and a manner in Wilson's death was pending.
Metro Police divers recovered Wilson's body at 6:20 p.m. Sunday about 35 feet from the shore at a depth of about 14 feet. The National Park Service received a transferred 911 call from Bullhead City, Ariz., authorities at 1:23 p.m. reporting the drowning.
The park service said the man had been swimming with five friends to a point of land jutting out of the lake. The six were swimming back to shore when other members of the group noticed one person was missing, authorities said.
Witnesses in Fire Mountain Cove, where the drowning occurred, saw the man lagging behind the group and go under the water. Friends and bystanders searched the area and called 911 about 20 minutes after he went missing.
Although there was no evidence that Wilson had been drinking alcohol, a 19-year-old with him was cited by park rangers for possessing alcohol and for interfering with an investigation, Munoz said.
Fire Mountain Cove is on the Nevada side of Lake Mohave. Authorities said Wilson was not wearing a life jacket.
"If he had been wearing a life jacket or some sort of flotation device, he might very well be alive," Munoz said.

Drowning due to alcohol related activities. Tragic.
Give something for the youth to do or more of this nonsense will happen.
One of these days the elected officials will figure this out.
This is tragic...
I knew "Black Mike" as we knew him and as he often he introduced himself. He was a wonderful friend and the nicest guy you could ever meet. I spoke with one of the friends that was with him and I know that alcohol is not the cause of this travesty. Yes, there was alcohol, but it was not consumed by anyone to the point of impairing them. Please dont post snare remarks about our late friend. It just adds more pain and heartache to the whole thing...
i only created an account to state this. Mike was a wonderful person
im a friend of micheal g. wilson in regards to the remarks left on this page excluding the one made by a friend of mine. you should all be ashamed the life of a person is so simply defined by logging on to the internet and post repulsive remarks which you have so effortlessly done. i will have you know to even find out if this was our friend we researched until at least 2:00 am this morning. when i had found the truth and i would dare to speeck for you speedy we were crushed to know that one of our closest friends had been killed it is a tradgity but not the way you are describing it. mike would be discraced to know the hearetlessness of you action if you are infact genuinly conserned they voice you opinions in a reverant manner.
