Las Vegas area crime snapshot for August

Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009 | 2 a.m.

The map below shows the "density" of reported crimes during August within Metro Police's jurisdiction. It's based on more than 8,000 incidents including violence, drugs and stolen property. Density isn't adjusted for the population in any part of the valley — the color coding is based on both the proximity and frequency of reported crimes.

  1. sort of useless because there is no "scale" to it. is dark blue 1 a day or 5 a day?

  2. this would be useful in locating where to buy a house and where not to go at 3am. also, it shows where the cops are and the location of the popular dough nut shops.
