FLASHPOINT:
Nevada lawmakers’ stars diminish in “The Almanac of American Politics”
Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 | 2 a.m.
I’m not exactly as exuberant as Navin Johnson in Carl Reiner’s “The Jerk” was when the phone book arrived. But when my copy of “The Almanac of American Politics” came, I was elated. Gov. Jim Gibbons is described as “nearly radioactive” and shunned by John McCain’s campaign. And: “In early 2009, his reelection prospects were dimming.” Sen. Harry Reid “could become a target in 2010.” And: “Reid was not the Senate’s best orator and not much of a policy visionary.” Sen. John Ensign’s “star dimmed considerably when he publicly admitted to having an extramarital affair ... but said the money was a gift and not intended to buy her silence.” Up to date, in black and white in the political bible.

Harry is also insipid and inept - but who is counting
