A man was admitted to University Medical Center with serious injuries after being struck by a car at South Las Vegas Boulevard and Windmill Lane, authorities say.

Saturday night at approximately 12:11 a.m., witnesses saw John Simpson, 57, crossing Las Vegas Boulevard against the red light when he was struck by a Toyota Corolla being driven by Alexandro Gomez, 25, of Winnetka, Calif., according to reports.

Gomez and passenger Irma Velasco, 25, were not injured, according to the report.

The accident is still under investigation by Metro.

  1. "The pedestrian crossed against the red light". What does that mean, the driver ran the red light?

  2. Oh wow!! You bring up a pondering point!! So if the pedestrian was crossing against the red light, the green light was in who's favor? The driver or pedestrian?
