UPDATED STORY: Las Vegas man who drowned in Lake Mohave identified

The body of a 19-year-old Las Vegas man was recovered Sunday evening from Lake Mohave after he drowned earlier in the day.

Metro Police divers recovered the body at 6:20 p.m. about 35 feet from the shore at a depth of about 14 feet. The National Park Service received a transferred 911 call from Bullhead City, Ariz., authorities at 1:23 p.m. reporting the drowning.

The park service said the man had been swimming to a point of land with five friends. The six were swimming back to shore when other members of the group noticed one person was missing, authorities said.

Witnesses in the cove saw the man lagging behind the group and go under the water. Friends and bystanders searched the area and called 911 about 20 minutes after he went missing.

The drowning occurred at Fire Mountain Cove on the Nevada side of the river.

The victim's name wasn't being released late Sunday. Authorities said he wasn't wearing a life jacket.
