Crash scene
A 14-year-old boy who was driving a car was seriously injured Saturday when he collided with a pickup truck, Metro Police said.
The crash happened about 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of North Gateway Road and East Tonopah Avenue, in the northeast valley.
Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate the Honda Civic the teen was driving west on Tonopah failed to stop at a sign at the intersection and struck a Chevrolet pickup truck that was northbound on Gateway, Metro said.
The teen was taken to University Medical Center.
The driver of the pickup, a 31-year-old Las Vegas man, and a 5-year-old boy who was a passenger in the truck suffered minor injuries, police said.
Metro did not release details about whose car the 14-year-old was driving. The crash remains under investigation, police said.

W T H !!! any parent of this kid in the picture?
And what charges is this underage driver going to receive? I love how this story is casually reporting about a 14 year old driver as if this type of behavior was okay.
Last time I checked, you have to be 16 years old to receive a driver's license. The laws must have changed...
/end sarcasm
how much you want to bet the car was stolen but the kid is a minor and he has to be 'protected".
One of the many law abiding youths in the city!
Give them nothing to do until they turn 21 and give every dollar they have to a casino and this is what you get.
Build some parks and recreational things to do if you want to help these kids.
I say reinstitute the draft. It'll give them discipline and purpose in life and keep them off the street for 4 years.
I bet he had a mustache
