Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009 | 3:39 a.m.

Auto-pedestrian accident

A 40-year-old Las Vegas man who appeared to be intoxicated was critically injured Friday night when he walked in front of a car on East Desert Inn Road, west of South Mojave Road, Metro Police said.

Evidence at the scene and witnesses indicated the man, whose name was being withheld pending notification of his family, was jaywalking when he was struck about 9 p.m., police said.

Neither the driver of the car, a 72-year-old Las Vegas man, nor his passenger, a 60-year-old woman, were injured, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to Sunrise Hospital. The accident is under investigation, but it appears the cause was intoxication on the part of the pedestrian, police said. The man walked into the front of the car, police said.
