A small thunderstorm cell popped up over Southern Clark County this afternoon, prompting forecasters to issue a severe thunderstorm warning for the rural area. The warning has since expired.

The National Weather Service issued the warning at 3:07 p.m. for a portion of south-central Clark County after storms formed that were capable of producing winds of more than 60 mph. The storm cell that prompted the warning was near Searchlight and was moving east at 5 mph.

Forecasters said no storms are expected for the rest of the weekend in the Las Vegas Valley.

The temperature at McCarran International Airport at 4 p.m. was 96 degrees.

Tonight the low is expected to reach 79 degrees before Sunday's high of 98 degrees, with drier air moving into the West and the threat of thunderstorms pushing east.

By Monday, Labor Day, the daytime high temperature should reach 99 degrees, which is a degree above normal for this time of year.
