After lightning, thunder, rain and hail swooped through the Las Vegas Valley Friday afternoon, there's still a chance of an isolated thunderstorm into the night.
A severe thunderstorm warning was canceled as the worst of the storms moved north of the valley about 3:30 p.m., the National Weather Service said.
For Saturday, a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms is possible, but drier and cooler air is expected to keep daytime highs near 98 degrees by Monday. Lows will stay in the lower 80s.
The high temperature Friday reached 100 degrees, just above the normal high of 98 degrees, said Don Maker, meteorologist with the weather service.
McCarran International Airport, the official weather site for Las Vegas, recorded a trace of rain as the storms moved across the western side of the valley.
As the storms entered the valley about 2 p.m., rain was recorded at 0.08 of an inch in Blue Diamond, 15 miles southwest of Las Vegas, and 0.04 of an inch in the Upper Flamingo Wash, according to rain gauges kept by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District.
A detention basin southwest of Las Vegas recorded 1.34 inches of rain in 45 minutes. In the southeast, 0.12 of an inch was recorded in Duck Creek at Eastern Avenue in 10 minutes.
Before the storm entered the valley, forecasters had issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Jean area southwest of Las Vegas at 1:14 p.m.
