The Governor:
Gibbons to create crime commission

CARSON CITY – Gov. Jim Gibbons says he intends to create a new Nevada Crime Commission to find innovative ways to combat emerging new crimes.
He said he wants this commission to “find real solutions to ‘current day’ crime problems, including mortgage fraud, internet crime, gang problems, Medicare/Medicaid fraud, prescription drug abuse and immigration issues.”
There is no money to pay for this commission so far, says Daniel Burns, communications director for Gibbons. But it should not cost much because many of those to be appointed are already in law enforcement.
Burns said the governor hopes to have the commission appointed by the end of the year. It would be composed of law enforcement officers, prosecutors, business and community leaders, representatives of victims groups and federal officials.
Many of these criminals are “creative people,” says Burns and ways have to be found to combat them.
Gibbons said state investigators are already looking into a major mortgage fraud case but he did not disclose details.
There was a Crime Commission at one time but it was dissolved.

These crimes are suppose to be new, I think not. Just use the statutes we have now and go after those organizations that abuse our american freedom (ACORN, ACLU) and such. Another commmission. What is that another kind of Harry Reid brain f_rt.
The commission is supposed to investigate immigration issues? Great idea!
Here's an immigration issue: a Congressional representative votes for a bill in Washington that would make it a crime to hire an undocumented worker, and then the same Conggresional representative hires an undocumented worker as a maid. The maid is told to hide in the basement if the INS ever shows up.
The commission should hold hearing on this issue, and then propose severe penalties for such behavior. Retroactively! The commission should send happy couple Jim and Dawn Gibbons to jail. Because this is exactly what they did.
I wonder if they'll work to make parking garages safe for young woman at night.
Right on! I think it's great idea.
