Constitution Week activities planned
The Silver State Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is planning its annual commemoration of Constitution Week in September.
Historian Luanna Mitchell has installed a 6-by-14-foot display in the Boulder City Library that shows the Constitution and other documents.
In addition, at 1 p.m. Sept. 17, Boulder City High School, Garrett Junior High, Martha P. King Elementary and Andrew Mitchell Elementary, as well as St. Andrew Catholic Community, St. Christopher's Episcopal Church and state and government buildings will ring their bells to emphasize the important of the Constitution.
The group has also resumed its regular meetings after summer hiatus at 1 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month at the Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd.

Christian Center plans open house
The Christian Center Foursquare Gospel Church, 571 Adams Blvd., will hold an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 13 to celebrate its recent remodeling.
The church has been at its location since 1946 and has a preschool there as well. Worship services are held Sundays at 8:15 and 9:45 a.m.

Church to host community party
Calvary Chapel will host a Community Block Party 3 to 9 p.m. Sept. 5 at Bicentennial Park, 999 Colorado St.
Events will include games, waterslides, a bean bag toss, face painting, story telling, arts and crafts and more.
Annie Meadows and the Nellis Air Force Base Gospel Choir are scheduled to perform. A movie will be shown at 7 p.m.

Veterans Home to hold birthday party
Warren Hogue, a World War II Army veteran and resident of the Nevada State Veterans Home, will celebrate his 100 birthday Sept. 9.
The veterans home, 100 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, will hold a party, including cake and entertainment, for him at 2 p.m.

Theater trip to benefit Lend A Hand
Lend A Hand, a nonprofit group that provides services to the elderly and shut-ins, will sponsors a fundraising trip to Tuacahn, Utah, for a theater performance on Oct. 9. Twelve seats were remaining on the bus as of this week.
Tickets, which are $100, include reserved seating for a performance of "Annie," a dutch-oven dinner and round-trip motor coach. The group will leave the Vons parking lot in Boulder City at noon and return at midnight.

Community blood drive scheduled
A quarterly community blood drive will take place Sept. 3, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the gym of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 916 Fifth St.
United Blood Services will set up a facility for donations.

Volunteers sought for Art in the Park
The Boulder City Hospital Foundation is seeking volunteers to help with the annual Art in the Park fundraiser from now until the event Oct. 3 and 4.
The arts and crafts festival is one of Boulder City's biggest and oldest community events and the nonprofit hospital's major annual fundraiser.
Signups for volunteer shifts began Aug. 25 at the front desk of the Boulder City Hospital, 901 Adams Blvd. In addition, all volunteers need to fill out and turn in volunteer forms to receive T-shirts, which will be distributed Sept. 25.
Raffle ticket sales begin Sept. 4. Volunteers may pick up tickets to sell at the foundation office, 999 Adams Blvd., Suite 106.
Event volunteers are needed to set up Oct. 2, 3 and 4, to register artists as they arrive Oct. 2 and to work during and clean up after the event Oct. 3 and 4.
