Crash location
A collision between a 2007 Toyota Tundra pickup truck and a 2000 Honda Elite scooter in the southeast valley left the scooter rider in critical condition, Metro Police said.
The crash occurred about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Ford Avenue and Rancho Destino Road near Gillespie Street, police said.
The pickup was going north on Rancho Destino, crossing Ford from a stop sign, police said.
The scooter was going west on Ford and didn't have a stop sign, police said. The pickup truck, driven by 53-year-old Debra Fletcher, didn't stop at the stop sign and struck the scooter in the intersection, police said.

Metro's Accident Investigation Detail is continuing to investigate this collision.

Another idiot running a stop sign. Was she on the phone?
Debra better hope I'm not on the jury when the scooter driver sues for pain, lost wages, etc. Debra...you better open your check book and bend over. I think you'll be paying for the rest of your life...and deserve to.
I hope the scooter rider was wearing a helmet.
Remember scooter and bike riders: Even though you DON'T have a stop sign, ALWAYS proceed through intersections cautiously, ANTICIPATE the possibility of an opposing driver (even with a stop sign) going into your path.
