Man killed in single-car wreck Halloween night

Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 | 10:49 p.m.

Fatal crash

A 26-year-old man was killed Halloween night when the car he was driving ran a stop sign and hit a concrete barrier in northwest Las Vegas, Metro Police said.

Nathaniel Allen of Logandale was transported in critical condition to University Medical Center, where he died a short time later, police said.

The crash happened about 5:50 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of North Hualapai Way and Grand Teton Drive. Metro said evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate the 2007 BMW Allen was driving was speeding north on Hualapai when it failed to stop at the sign at Grand Teton.

The car entered the T intersection and hit a concrete barrier, police said. It went airborne and hit a dirt berm before landing on its side in the desert, police said.

It was the 75th fatal traffic wreck in Metro’s jurisdiction this year. The crash remains under investigation by the Metro’s Accident Investigation Section.
