Halloween weather brings treats, not trick to Las Vegas
Temperatures to cooperate with the costumed set ready to go out tonight
Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 | 7:12 a.m.
You might see a few scary and goulish sights today in the Las Vegas Valley, but the weather won't be one of them.
After a week of howling winds and winter-like wind chills, Halloween is bringing sunny skies, light winds and temperatures at just about normal levels for the season, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures were starting out this morning at 49 degrees at 5:56 a.m. at McCarran International Airport. The normal low is 50 and the record low was 30 degrees, set in 1971.
The thermometer readings will climb to 56 degrees by 9 a.m. and to 66 degrees by noon before topping out at 74 degrees around 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for Halloween is 73 degrees and the record high was 86 degrees, set in 1988.
Trick-or-treaters won't have to fight the weather this evening, which will bring light winds and temperatures falling from about 70 degrees to 64 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., forecasters say.
The Las Vegas skies will also be clear tonight, with a nearly full waxing moon to help costumed creatures find their way.
The older crowd celebrating Halloween late tonight in skimpy attire will have to contend with temperatures dropping after midnight into the 50s, forecasters said.
Sunday's morning low will drop to 54 degrees. Then Sunday's high will reach 78 degrees by about 3 p.m.
