Sewer work to impact traffic in eastern Las Vegas Valley

Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 | 2:05 a.m.

Sewer work

Sewer work will impact traffic on Harmon Avenue and Pearl Street near Pecos Road in the eastern Las Vegas Valley.

Crews were scheduled to begin work Friday on Harmon Avenue from Pearl Street to Euclid Street, through intersections with Pecos Road and McLeod Drive.

During the work, two westbound lanes will be closed, leaving one lane open in each direction until at least Dec. 23.

Beginning Nov. 15, crews are expected to begin work on the sewer under Pearl Street.

Two northbound lanes of Pearl will be closed through at least Jan. 8, leaving just one lane in each direction open to traffic.

The work is part of a sewer rehabilitation project being done by the Clark county Water Reclamation District.

Motorists can get project information and traffic updates by calling (702) 853-1333 or visiting www.thelvpipeline.com.

Blasting to cause delays on U.S. 93 near Hoover Dam

U.S. 93 construction

Motorists traveling between Las Vegas and Phoenix could encounter some delays as the Arizona Department of Transportation continues work on U.S. 93 near Hoover Dam.

Crews will be doing blast work from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at mile 11.5 and Wednesday at mile 12.5.

Motorists should expect half hour delays during the blasting.

Crews are also hauling dirt across U.S. 93 at milepost 12.6 through November. The dirt hauls may cause 15-minute delays for motorists Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 6 a.m. to noon.

The U.S. 93 project will widen about 15 miles of the road near the dam before the opening of the Hoover Dam bypass late next year.

The project began in January on the road, which carries more than 14,000 vehicles each day.

New traffic signal at Jones Blvd., Grand Teton Drive

New traffic signal

A new traffic signal at Jones Boulevard and Grand Teton Drive is scheduled to begin operation at 9 a.m. Sunday.

To give motorists warning, the signal will flash red on Saturday, making the intersection a four-way stop.

The signal is part of a $15.6 million project that began in December.

The project includes improvements to Jones Boulevard from Elkhorn Road and Horse Drive, Grand Teton Drive between Maverick Street and Decatur Boulevard and to Farm Road from Maverick Street to Leon Avenue.

A new signal is expected to begin operation at the intersection of Jones and Farm in mid-November. The project also includes preparation work for future signals at Jones and Horse and Grand Teton and Bradley Road.

Work on bus turnout to close lanes on Decatur Blvd.

Bus turnout construction

Lanes on southbound Decatur Boulevard between U.S. 95 and Alta Drive will be closed while crew install a bus turnout area.

The closures are expected to begin Monday and will continue on weekdays for three to four weeks.

Northbound Decatur is not expected to be impacted by the closures, and the southbound lanes will be fully open on weekends.

The lane restrictions will be in effect 24 hours a day.
