I hope Mayor Oscar Goodman is full of more

Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 | 2 a.m.

For once, I hope Mayor Oscar Goodman is full of more than hot air. Please. Just once. The media, not surprisingly, were all over Goodman’s latest “we are getting a sports team soon” announcement this week, the news that The Cordish Companies, a real estate behemoth, is interested in building an arena downtown. “These are serious people. These are not people who are on a wing and a prayer,” Goodman said. “Cordish has a proven track record. They don’t have time to play games.” And the implication: If they build it, an NBA team will come. Now, this is only about a feasibility study and we are nowhere near a deal for pro basketball. And we have heard this before from The Mouth That Roared. But maybe this time it’s for real. Maybe.
