Moapa Valley has won the 3A Southern League championship — and in dominant fashion.

Moapa Valley pounded Virgin Valley 52-0 Thursday to earn the No. 1 seed in the 3A state playoffs.

Kellen Weiss passed for 320 yards on 9-for-9 passing and receiver Matt Newton caught six passes for 265 yards and four touchdowns.

Moapa Valley coach Brent Lewis is optimistic about his team’s chances entering the playoffs.

“We’re playing our best ball right now,” Lewis said.
