Court denies killer’s appeal for sixth time

Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 | 11:08 a.m.

CARSON CITY – For the sixth time, the Nevada Supreme Court has denied the appeal of Las Vegas killer Oscar Williams Jr., who is serving a life term without the possibility of parole for the murder of his wife.

In his current appeal, the court rejected Williams’ claim that an instruction to the jury on premeditation was faulty.

Williams, now 53, was convicted in August 1985 of first-degree murder and is serving his sentence at the Southern Nevada Correctional Center.

The court denied his fifth appeal in January this year.

  1. I'm surprised to hear he's still sitting in jail. Life without the possibility of parole here in Nevada usually amounts to no more than about ten years. Fifteen at the most.

  2. "Without" is the operative word here. No parole, no release. No surprise.
