Las Vegas Sun reporters Ray Brewer and Steve Silver start breaking down potential playoff match-ups as this week's slate of games will not greatly impact any postseason positioning.

Expanded coverage

Tyrone Blake returned two punts for touchdowns and had 120 yards on the ground as Palo Verde finished off its regular season by beating Centennial 42-7.

“He was definitely our leader on offense tonight,” Palo Verde coach Darwin Rost said. “He made some big plays.”

Rost expected Centennial to come out throwing the ball all over the field in its spread offense. But the Bulldogs surprised Rost by mostly relying on their ground game.

No worries, however, as the Panthers kept the Bulldogs out of the end zone until the final minutes of the game.

Palo Verde (9-1) will face Desert Oasis in its first game of the playoffs. Rost said he couldn’t wait for the playoffs to get under way.

“We treat it like a brand new season,” Rost said. “We’ll bring the kids in to watch tape tomorrow and get them in the weight room Saturday.”
