The Man Formerly Known as Governor

Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 | 2 a.m.

The Man Formerly Known as Governor is going to be deliberative. Wait, there’s more to the joke. He was speaking to KLAS-TV about the proposed opt-out public option. “I don’t know what the opt-out phrase means for the state of Nevada or any other state,” Jim Gibbons told the TV station. “We don’t know what the details are. We don’t know what that’s going to do to Nevada and we need to get that information before we can make a decision.” And this gem from Ø: “As they always say, ‘The devil is in the details.’ ” Perhaps a little history is in order on this kind of issue. On the stimulus funding, Gibbons initially indicated he wouldn’t take it, talked about federal strings and then … took it. There, too, the devil was in the details: He needed the cash.
