NV Energy posts profit increase in 3Q

Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 | 8:07 a.m.

NV Energy Inc. on Monday said its quarterly profit rose as revenue also increased.

The company, Nevada's main electric utility, said that for the third quarter ended Sept. 30 it earned $182.6 million, or 78 cents per share, up from $150.8 million or 64 cents in the year-ago quarter.

Revenue of $1.219 billion in the 2009 quarter was up from $1.118 billion in the year-ago quarter.

"We are very pleased with the results we achieved in this year's third quarter," Michael Yackira, president and chief executive officer of NV Energy, said in a statement. "While the increase was largely due to higher revenue associated with investment in generating facilities, it was also due to cost discipline throughout the company."

Discussion: 3 comments so far…

  1. of course thy're posting a profit.look how much your electric bills' been the past few summers.

  2. And they tried for another increase just within the last few months. Sounds like they were just trying to gouge us some more.

  3. NV ENERGY =

    NV POWER =

    ONLY GAME IN TOWN POWER.

(Please draw your attention to their anti-competitive protections under State Law as cited, gleefully, by the "current" Governor.)
