Metro Police and the Nevada Highway Patrol are investigating two separate fatal traffic accidents today, both of them caused by medical conditions.

The first occurred as a man drove a silver Hyundai north on U.S. 95 near Cal-Nev-Ari about 4 a.m. today, Trooper Chelita Rojas said. The car went for several hundred yards into the desert.

He has been identified as 61-year-old James Leslie Hutchinson of Laughlin, the Clark County Coroner's Office said. A cause of death hasn't been determined.

The second occurred about 8:26 a.m. today at Palace Monaco Avenue and Rotherham Street near West Desert Inn Road, South Buffalo and South Durango drives, police said.

The 52-year-old man driving a 2007 Ford pickup truck suffered a medical condition that caused the pickup to leave the pavement to the south, striking a power distribution box before stopping, police said. The driver, Terrance Shauger of Henderson, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Both traffic incidents are still under investigation.
