A 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after the car he was riding in collided with another vehicle this morning in a northwest Las Vegas Valley intersection.

Metro Police responded at 6:42 a.m. to the crash at Rainbow Boulevard and Whispering Sands Drive. Police said a 1993 Honda driven by a 17-year-old boy was traveling west on Whispering Sands and failed to stop at a stop sign on Rainbow.

The Honda then collided with a 2003 Ford Expedition traveling south on Rainbow with no stop sign.

The passenger in the Honda suffered critical injuries and the driver suffered moderate injuries, police said. Both were taken to University Medical Center.

The 38-year-old driver of the Expedition, identified as Janine Jones, of Las Vegas, was taken to UMC with minor injuries, police said.
