Flashpoint:

Former Rep. J.C. Watts has become quite the comedian.

Former Rep. J.C. Watts has become quite the comedian.

In a speech reported by the Tulsa (Okla.) World, Watts declared that Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn, who once claimed doctor-patient privilege to not disclose advice he had given Sen. John Ensign, will have “a special place in heaven.” Coburn, an OB/GYN who has been accused of urging Ensign to pay off Doug and Cynthia Hampton, is akin to Martin Luther King in his purity, Watts said. So what did he say to Ensign? “I would mortgage one of my grandkids that Tom Coburn was sharing the Gospel in that situation. To make that look sinister is just — it’s what politics has become.” No, Mr. Watts: Making it look sinister is what Oklahoma’s latter-day MLK has done.
