Documentary paints sad picture of nation

Under his cap and behind his glasses, Michael Moore has a brilliant mind.
Every high school student, state and city government official, member of Congress, Cabinet secretary, the president and vice president — in fact, all Americans 14 and older — must see his latest documentary film, “Capitalism: A Love Story.”
Mr. Moore pulls back the covers and reveals the ugly truth about the introduction of credit leading to horrendous greed and our politicians’ financial maneuvering, as well as that of big business, especially Wall Street.
It is a frightening, disgusting and repulsive depiction of what this country has become. I don’t know how all of these vile practices can be turned around and fixed, but every single American needs to be aware of them and fight back when they become oppressed by them.
The documentary is a sad depiction of America, a country that always held such promise, hope and chance for a better life for its workers. Bring a tissue because you’ll need it.

Moore is a pathetic, lying, ignorant. fat slob. Why doesn't he do a film on ACORN to show how they rip off the taxpayer. Capitalism is what made this the greatest and most prosperous country in the world. The average American has the highest standard of living and the most disposable income of any country anywhere. Yes, there are a lot of the people in this country who are too stupid and lazy to take advantage of it. That is their problem and they deserve their poverty. Look at the richest men in the country, Bill Gates, Larry Ellison, Warren Buffet et al. All self made billionares. Could they have done this in any other society, I think not. If you are ambitious and smart, you can do much better in this country than anywhere else. If you are a lazy bum, too bad.

According to jlb, social Darwinism lives and it is righteous. The poor are poor because they deserve to be. My wealth is mine because I earned it all on my own; nobody helped me. I mean, apart from guaranteeing my political and religious freedom, apart from providing me with a national energy grid, and apart from creating the highway system, ports system, and the air traffic system that allows me to get my goods to market efficiently, what has the government ever done for me? I earned all my money on my own!
And what have poor people ever done for jlb? I mean, apart from picking his fruits and vegetables, working in the abattoirs, and providing him with cheap labor in a multitiude of workplaces. I recall one of his first documentaries, "Pets and Meat." I think it was still when he was doing it under cover of the local public access station. It was brilliant.
Although I have little use for Moore myself, he is non-corporate, non-government, and isn't afraid to lift their skirts. Or their rugs where their dirty secrets have been swept while they point and shout "look, a terrorist!"
Please note that in all the bashing of Michael Moore from the right, you will never see any actual criticism of what he says. You will see no end of ad hominem attacks calling him any number of names, but you won't ever see anyone take Michael Moore on based on the facts.
There's a reason for that.
Michael Moore is an American hero. For years he has bravely taken on corporate interests who corrupt our government. I'm amazed he hasn't been killed. Maybe because of the way he looks, they don't take him seriously?
The R-J has an article today about a group called Oath Keepers. Both this group and Moore come from the same type of wariness of what our government is up to, and who's really running things, and to what end, even though people want to categorize and embrace/dismiss them as either right or left. We need more and more of people like these to right this country. And we need these people to find common ground to work together instead of being pushed off to the left/right fringes by people who want to believe there are two sides, a good and a bad guy, and they are on the correct side. It's not that way, folks.
"Capitalism is what made this the greatest and most prosperous country in the world." again this ignorant garbage. The U.S. is a really young country compared to most of the world. People haven't been using up the natural resources here for centuries as they have in other countries.
How can this country possibly survive 4000 years of using the land and water, as some countries have? Guess what? IT CAN'T SUSTAIN "THE AMERICAN LIFESTYLE." The American lifestyle has been based on the fact that not many humans lived on this land until a couple of hundred years ago. It is not sustainable, because natural resources have been squandered by GREEDY CAPITALISTS. The American lifestyle will end, one way or another. We can try to manage, intelligently, how it happens, or wait for chaos and disaster.
By the way, as someone pointed out, your claims, jlb, that everybody can do whatever they want, and those who don't get what they want must be lazy or stupid, are ignorant and self-serving. Have you figured out yet that a lot of people are onto that?
We have some great documentaries around now. "Super Size Me" should be part of the high school curriculum. All Americans should see that, and Food, Inc., and this Moore film, as well as Sicko. See them before we lose our First Amendment rights.

There's a difference between Limbaugh and Moore: Limbaugh says things that are demonstrably untrue.
And, unlike those on this page who call Michael Moore a liar and then back it up with absolutely no evidence, I'll point out just a few of Rush's lies:
Rush on Barack Obama:

Limbaugh on Obama, Democrats, and Social Security:

In his own book "Told You So" Limbaugh quotes James Madison as saying, "We have staked the future...upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God."
David B. Mattern, the associate editor of The Madison Papers responded thus: "We didn't find anything in our files remotely like the sentiment expressed in the extract you sent to us."
Rush on Bosnia:
"For the first time in military history, U.S. military personnel are not under the command of United States generals." (TV show, 4/18/94)
That's news to the Pentagon. How far back do you want to go? Americans served under Lafayette in the Revolutionary war. France's Marshall Foch was in overall command of U.S. troops in World War I. In World War II, Britain's General Montgomery led U.S. troops in Europe and North Africa, while another British General, Lord Mountbatten, commanded the China-Burma-India theatre.
Limbaugh: "Look who is acting Nazi-like anyway? Who is it that's sending out thugs to beat people up at these meetings?...It's the Obama White House."
No such thugs exist. at least not within the Obama White House.
Limbaugh on President Obama: "He admitted he's going to wipe out private insurance."
He's done no such thing.
More: Obama "wants us to have the same health care and plan that he had in Kenya."
President Obama has never had any kind of Kenyan health care.

That list is only a sampling; it's far from what I can come up with in the way of Limbaugh lies. I don't demonize Limbaugh for holding political views that don't coincide with my own; I demonize him for using lies, slander, and innuendo to further his political goals.
I don't have a problem branding people liars if that is indeed what they are. The left has its own share of liars just as the right does; Michael Moore just isn't one of them.

I live on the island of Manhatten, the luxory homes and corporate suite to America's elite... Those who run your life live in my neighborhood. I walk in the streets with them each day" ( Michael Moore's book, Stupid White Men, p.51). For vacations, he keeps another million dollar beachfront house in Michagan.
He sends his child to a Private school- no sense associating with the working class.
Moore supplements his income with speaking tours. Moore charged Utah Valley St College $40,000, Xavier $25,000,, and Univ of New Mexico $35,000. Not bad for an hour or two's work.

I was looking for the "list of several lies" that sarge said were in the Slate article. I could not find them. Good try, although next time, if I were you, I would actually bother to read the articles instead of googling and posting.
Actually, SgtRock, if you take the time to read the Hitchens article from Slate, you will see that Hitchens doesn't question Moore's facts, only his interpretation of those facts. I read it, you see.
Same thing with the Forbes article. Forbes admits, for instance, that Moore did indeed receive a rifle in exchange for opening an account at the bank in question. As for the factory in question, Moore said the kids MAY have been influenced by its proximity, not that they were.
I'm still waiting.

The TRUTH is that a person would have to wait days for the background check to complete and he will not have gotten the gun at the bank but at another location.
In the same, movie it clearly says the plant builds missiles of mass destruction. The TRUTH is that the plant builds rockets to launch satelites.
In the slate article it clearly says, "A film that bases itself on a big lie and a big misrepresentation can only sustain itself by a dizzying succession of smaller falsehoods, beefed up by wilder and (if possible) yet more-contradictory claims."
The Slate article clearly rips up the Moore assertion that Bush or Cheney were running around trying to help the Saudis to leave the US.
Also, the Slate article demostrates over and over where Moore contradicts himself.
In his current movie, it states that Wal-Mart has life insurance on its workers payable to Wal-Mart. The TRUTH is Wal-Mart at the time of the filming of the movie did not have such policies and when it have the polices that they were only on managers and top excutives.
If you want to be filled up with Moore's garbage then go right ahead and make Moore even richer.

Michael Moore made an appearance on "Hannity" the other evening. Oh, Hannity is a talk show host on FOX NEWS. I usually don't watch Hannity but I wanted to hear what Michael Moore had to say.
I actually thought Michael Moore did a good job. But I do think that several on the left would not enjoy what he had to say. Michael Moore appears to me to be a true Capitalist and likes the green color of the dollar.

You moron liberals throw rocks in a glass house yet your leaders are lying crooked thieves. You complain about capitalism, yet your leaders are as crooked, if not more, than rest of the bunch. Even Michael Moore, how to you think he made the movie? Capitalism financed the movie.
Do you think for a minute your leaders are going to give up their wealth to help any of you, get real? They hide their assists in trust accounts and other tax shelters so they don't pay taxes. Wake up and smell the roses mindless troll, they've been lying to you for years and apparently you're just dumb enough to believe them.

If you study the economic model that the US government has for the US economy (we have had this since the 60s), you will see exactly what Moore has mirrored.
Bashing Moore is a waste of time. People who don't believe his documentary NEED TO STUDY the ECONOMIC FACTS. And not just give unsupported opinions.
Of course, for those who do not have the mental ability or willingness to do research, they only fuel the fire of greed and exploitation of the average american.

God bless this wonderful country of ours where a Michael Moore and a Rush Limbaugh can not only expose and expound on what is "wrong" with it; they cam become muli-millionairs by doing it! Isn't it great that we can all sit here and voice ourselves without the threat of prison or worse for speaking our minds. I think that they both put forth some valid points that there are some things in our country that need fixing. If we spent a little less time fighting among ourselves as to which one is right and spent more time trying to fix the problems "not the messengers" we might get some of these problems solved. Neither Michael Moore or Rush Limbaugh or anyone else can show me a better place to live than in these great United States Of America!
Moore & his liberal yet nausea inducing documentaries strike once again. The guy is so ignorant, lettuce heads have more in common with the general public.
