Benjamin Miles Cordova

A former North Las Vegas police officer has been fired for allegedly purchasing fuel for his personal vehicle on a department credit card.

Benjamin Miles Cordova had been videotaped three times fueling his blue Chevrolet Colorado four-door pickup truck using another officer's credit card at two gas stations in Henderson and North Las Vegas, an arrest report indicated.

The administrative investigation is separate from a criminal case that's in the hands of the Clark County District Attorney's Office, police said. Details of the police administrative investigation won't be released because it's a personnel matter.

He was arrested July 22 and booked into the North Las Vegas Detention Center. At that time he was placed on paid administrative leave until the administrative investigation was completed.

Cordova was booked on three counts of credit card fraud and three counts of receiving property obtained by unlawful use of a credit card. All counts are felonies.

North Las Vegas police had launched an investigation after another officer discovered that a department credit card was missing from a patrol car and notified his superiors.

During the investigation, police also learned that Cordova's driver's license had expired on Aug. 13, 2007, but he was still driving his own vehicle and department vehicles.

  1. I saw this guy getting a free meal at a restuarant on NLV blvd and lamb

maybe he could get a job as a policeman in MExico, he has the qualifications

  2. Officer I respect the police. But I do not respect or like what you did. You are supposed to uphold the law. You givethe good, hardworking offices a bad image.

  3. Where does this IDIOT thing he was going in stealing a credit card, especially a card issued by the police Dept. Obviously he's not high on the IQ list.

  4. mred, this guy is Spanish, not Mexican. You must have looked at the photo without reading the name.

  6. keep weeding these law breaking cops out ! They think they are above the law ! The police departments should stop thinking that their BROTHERS ( as one L V metro officer refered to them ) are all honest. Put some more I A D in place to sort this out. These police are not Brothers of other police. They are co-workers just as in any other corporation ! This remark Of Brothers tends to put in our minds that there are cover ups to protect their family members. This comment was made when there were comments about the speeding patrol car that was in a one car accident that resulted in a death of an officer and there have been no circumstances revealed by metro at all, including who was the driver! COVER UP TO THE MAX !!!!! Helping out their BROTHERS !!!!

  7. You have got to be kidding; he is being paid while on administrative leave. And we wonder why we're in a budget crisis.

The idiot was on video, he used the company card for personal use and now he is being ewarded for breaking the law. He is a criminal and you're paying him, one has to love stupid. I now understand a little better why people wait in line 100's deep to work for the government, break the law and get paid while politicians decide what to do next. Oh no, were so confused, what to do next, we have to use our brain.

A little hint for you politicians, he is on video tape and caught red handed, what else do you need? I surely hope you're not waiting for some sort of excuse on why not to fire him and stop his pay.

  8. dumb ass

  9. "police also learned that Cordova's driver's license had expired on Aug. 13, 2007, but he was still driving his own vehicle and department vehicles."

Makes you wonder if his registration was expired and he was driving without insurance....

  10. Good job North Las Vegas. I know this kind of behavior won't be tolerated from a public servant. Now, you need to concentrate on that other public servant ( the fireman) who was suspected of commtting insurance fraud.

  11. The use of credit cards, any credit cards, can only be due to the environment and the abusers childhood.

Abusers who use their power of "the uniform and the image of policeman" to control their environment have behavior manifestations that will never be resolved because they are low life and will always remain low life.

  12. Good riddance to bad rubbish

  13. What a disgrace to all of the good law enforcement officers in Clark County. One bad apple makes it tougher for the hundreds of honest officers out there. I guess they should keep a record of drivers licenses to assure the officers maintain their licenses. Of course, the majority do abide by the rules, but this guy is obviously not fit to wear the uniform. I worked for a company that tracked gas spending and mileage on company vehicles. One guy was getting 6 mpg in his Chevy Celebrity company car. An investigation revealed he was draining his tank at home to use in personal vehicles, including a motor home. He no longer had his job. At least this will leave a job opening for an honest person who deserves to wear the NLV badge.

  14. I hope your fill-ups were worth your career! Us taxpayers want out money back! You should be ashamed of yourself.
    : ( Very disappointed.

  15. Any cop with a brain in his head should know that you put gas only in the patrol car then siphon it out into a jerry can when you are in a dark alley a while later. Dummy.

  16. Too bad he's not with Metro - would never have been fired.

  17. Makes you wonder what else he has been up to...
