North Las Vegas police are investigating an incident that left three teenage boys with serious injuries this afternoon during a physical altercation blocks from a high school.

The assaults of the teenagers, a 14-year-old who was hit with a heavy object, a 16-year-old who was stabbed and an 18-year-old who was shot, were expected to recover, police said. The three boys are brothers.

All three were taken to University Medical Center, police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon said. The 16-year-old who was stabbed was in serious but stable condition.

No one is in custody. Police said they likely know who was involved in the assaults but haven't released details.

All three teenagers were believed to be students at Rancho High School, at 1900 Searles Ave., Coon said. The three brothers had been in an altercation with another group of boys near Civic Center Drive and Webb Avenue and they were driven to an area on Owens Avenue.

Police reopened Owens Avenue at 5 p.m. after closing it for about two hours while they investigated the assaults.
