The Las Vegas Wranglers continue to make roster moves as the final countdown to opening night begins.
The Wranglers announced Tuesday that they signed center Josh Prudden to a standard player contract.
Prudden, 29, is entering into his seventh professional season. The University of New Hampshire graduate started his career in the ECHL with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies -- the former team of Wranglers head coach Ryan Mougenel.
The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder has split time between the ECHL and AHL. Prudden has logged 250 total games in the AHL with the Cleveland Barons, Worcester Sharks and Manitoba Moose while skating in 120 games in the ECHL with Atlantic City and most recently the Fresno Falcons, where he played for Mougenel.
"Josh is a player I am extremely familiar with from his seasons in Fresno," Mougenel said. "He's a veteran player and his experience will be a great asset both to the team and to me."
Prudden has racked up 73 goals, 110 assists and 270 penalty minutes in his professional career.
The Wranglers released forward Jerry Pollastrone and defenseman Jason Fredricks. On Monday the team cut John Morea, Matt Whitehead and Justin Taylor.
Mougenel said the roster is at the right number, but he still might make more roster moves before opening night. He also confirmed that the Wranglers will add defenseman Mike Madill to the lineup once he fully recovers from off season knee surgery.
Las Vegas South?: Another former Wrangler has landed in Shreveport. Former Las Vegas defenseman Chris St. Croix signed with the Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League Tuesday, joining John DeCaro and Shawn Limpright.
Spearhead: The ECHL announced that it has fined Ontario left wing James McEwan an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in against the Wranglers on Oct. 8. McEwan was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct for spearing at the conclusion of the game.

Patrosso, Derek

Steve, any news on Straub?
I don't understand the Taylor move. He had the numbers last year to at least start the season.
HW, I saw that. I tried to talk Mouge into signing me, but he wasn't having any of it.
Vagman, Straub is not coming here. He will most likely end up in Trenton. The Wranglers traded away his rights.
BCDave, I'll refer you to comments on this story for your hint about Taylor:

Straub has signed with the Allen Americans of the CHL.
I was kinda surprised by Morea being cut. He appeared to have some offensive skills.
DMoney, so was I. He is still only 20. With his talent I'm sure you'll see at a high level in a few years
Any word on Mike McKenna? I saw he was cut by the Aces...unless it was a different McKenna.
As far as I know the Wranglers are only adding one more player tomorrow and then that is it for opening night. One or two more players might get cut too, but other than that the opening night roster is pretty much set. Obviously new faces will come and go this season with injuries and call-ups.
any news on where Jason Dest has gone? If the team is going a more defensive route this year, it would seem odd to not re-sign him.
The Mike McKenna cut by the Aces was a different McKenna. He was a defenseman. The former Wrangler is playing for the Lowell Devils in the AHL.
I asked Adam Miller about Jason Dest, and according to him, Jason "hung them up".
look at lvwranglersfan getting involved and finding the scoop. Nice work.
I searched all my usual websites and found nothing on Dest, so you must be correct.
I still think Mouge should sign Steve Silver

We nearly have the same birthday too
One more scoop, I believe. According to Dan Riedel's facebook page, he has been released, at his request. Apparently not enough playing time to go around. He must have been a casualty of Prudden and Hagel signing.
