Vehicle crash

A 30-year-old man suffered critical injuries in a two-vehicle, head-on collision this afternoon in the southwestern Las Vegas Valley.

Police responded at 12:18 p.m. to the crash north of the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Jones Boulevard. Witnesses told police a red 1996 Toyota Corolla was northbound on Jones when it veered left and collided with a silver 2003 Toyota 4Runner in the center of the street’s southbound lanes, Metro Police Sgt. Oscar Chavez said.

The driver of the Corolla, Thomas Kebede of Las Vegas, was taken to Spring Valley Hospital and is in critical condition, authorities said.

The five occupants of the SUV – James Frasco, 40, of Las Vegas; Jay Frasco, 42, of Santa Monica, Calif.; Christine Scaia, 44, of Wilson, N.C.; Judith Frasco, 65, of Wellfleet, Mass.; and Nar Scaia, 54, of Wilson, N.C. – were taken to Spring Valley Hospital with minor to moderate injuries, according to an accident report.

Alcohol doesn't appear to be a factor in the crash, Chavez said.

Metro Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
