Spring Valley coach Kelly Murphy applied a simple saying to his team’s 55-7 victory against Pahrump Valley: Back to basics.

After losing two games in a row, Murphy wanted the Grizzlies to forget about what went wrong and focus. That’s exactly what they did.

“We ran the football,” Murphy said. “And we ran the football well.”

Senior running back Taj Allen stood out in the contest as he rushed for more than 100 yards and had four touchdowns.

Spring Valley improved to 4-3.

“It was very disheartening the last couple of weeks,” Murphy said. “The kids were focused on what we needed to do and put aside the mishaps from the last couple weeks and went out and executed.”
