Letter to the editor:

People should know who’s paying whom

Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 | 2:04 a.m.

Frank Rich, the New York Times columnist, hit the nail on the head in his commentary published in Sunday’s Las Vegas Sun, “Influence peddling is alive and well.”

I think it is incumbent upon all media to put together a list of members of Congress and report what insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies have contributed to their “little” funds.

Then let’s match up what each of these members is telling us regarding why he is for or against a proposed health care plan. Talk about a “Tea Party”!

My gut says there will be a revolt like no other. Need I say more?

  1. hey carole...
    excellent letter...
i just can not believe somebody hasn't jumped on the opportunity to shine a light on this cess pool...
especially given the use of the internet these days...

  2. ",,,what insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies have contributed to their "little" funds."

Fishman -- their contributions surely pale when compared to Big Finance. Besides AIG who did Congress bail out in those industries?

  3. Don't just limit it to insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies! List it all. This is where the fouth estate (news media) has truly dropped the ball and has let us down. ALL contributions made by lobbyists should be reported and kept in front of us.

  4. Democrats might be taken down a notch if their members actually saw who was donating to them... or at least take the air out of this type of reasoning.

  5. How about the scumbag union goons, subhuman shyster trial attorneys, and welfare whore organizations that donate to the Liberal fools. There is nothing lower on the evolutionary scale than those despicable leeches.

  6. As long as there is food on the table, a roof over your head, and hope springs eternal, there will be no revolt or revolution. I have seen so many postings with on many websites exhorting Americans to start a revolution. Why?

We are in the middle of the worst recession in a long time. Yet we still have it better than 90% of the rest of the world. The stores are full of goods, the gas stations have plenty of gas, the electricity is still on, and those in need of help are getting it. There are no death panels or black helicoptors flying into the night. No concentration camps or mass firing squads. No storm troopers or brownshirts prowling the neighborhoods beating up people. So do we destroy our country and have innocent people starve or get killed and live decades in misery just because you disagree with the politicans and the course they have taken. Revolution means destruction. Things should be absolutely terrible before even thinking that thought. We are nowhere near that.
