UNLV will be licking several wounds when it returns to Sam Boyd Stadium on Saturday night following a 63-28 drubbing at the hands of rival UNR — mostly on the defensive side of the ball.
And it doesn't get any easier, as No. 18 BYU comes to town next Saturday night with an offense as high-powered as it gets.
UNLV allowed UNR 773 yards of total offense, which is the most any team in the FBS has surrendered in a single game this season. Following that showing, the Rebels now rank 112th out of 120 FBS squads in total defense.
As for BYU, the 4-1 Cougars, who upset then-No. 3 Oklahoma to start the 2009 season, are led by senior quarterback Max Hall. He's 104-of-153 this season for 1,403 yards and 11 TD passes.
Last season, Hall orchestrated a beautiful fourth quarter drive to help BYU edge UNLV in Provo, 42-35.
