Letter to the editor:

Our representatives should work for us

Given that we vote for the men and women who represent us in the U.S. House and Senate, I believe the members’ salaries should be paid by the state of Nevada and not by the federal government. If we did this, we the taxpayers would determine their salary, health care coverage and retirement packages — and how long that would extend after leaving office.

We could also have term limits for them as we have for all of our other elected officials (servants) in Nevada. By doing this, they would be working for us and not the federal government.

Remember, you never bite the hand that feeds you. They should also live in their state and conduct all business via computer. By doing this, they would be more concerned about the state where they live and work.
