NASCAR greats to roll into Rio in Las Vegas

Two-time NASCAR Cup champion Tony Stewart volunteered his time washing cars at Coronado High School to help raise money for the school’s racing program Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009.

NASCAR legend Tony Stewart will be at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino on Thursday to honor the best, boldest and funniest of the 2009 racing season.

The two-time Sprint Cup Series champion will be on hand to host the annual The Stewie Awards, along with Fox NASCAR announcer Matt Yocum.

Joining the NASCAR buffs at the Rio will be this year’s Sprint Cup Series champion, Jimmie Johnson, as well as drivers Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch, Denny Hamlin, Greg Biffle, Juan Pablo Montoya, Ryan Newman, Kasey Kahne, Carl Edwards and Brian Vickers.

The two-hour event is open to the public and will take place in the Masquerade Village. The awards show is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will be aired nationwide on Channel 128 on both SIRIUS and XM Radio.
