It cooled off considerably, in shooting and scoring, but Findlay College Prep managed to stay undefeated Saturday night at the Tournament of Champions in Peoria, Ill.
The Pilots defeated Quality Education Academy of North Carolina, 69-63, behind standout point guard Cory Joseph’s 34 points.
Joseph went 5-of-7 from beyond the 3-point line to guide Findlay to a 7-0 record.
Third-year Pilots coach Mike Peck is 72-1.
Joseph also had five rebounds and three assists.
Junior guard Jabari Brown scored 11 points for the Pilots, and senior power forward Godwin Okonji tallied 13 rebounds and four steals.
Joseph, senior power forward Tristan Thompson and Brown were named to the all-tournament team.
Findlay returns home to play Australia Travelers at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Henderson International School.

Wow, that was a little too close for comfort. This is why I don't understand why Findlay plays 20 minute halves at home. When they get into 8 minute quarters like most high school games are they aren't real familiar with the shortened game, thus you see these lower scoring outputs and closer games. Glad they remained unbeaten but that was scary!
