Letter to the editor:
Reid, Pelosi fill heads with sugar plum dreams
Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 | 2 a.m.
Like Santa and Mrs. Claus, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are preparing a sack full of gifts for the American people. And like the children who need only be good to receive every toy they dream of, Americans need only have good intentions to receive everything on their wish lists.
Harry and Nancy’s gifts include health care for everyone that will actually cost less, a clean environment that will actually create jobs, and peace in the world that will make America stronger.
Harry and Nancy Claus say they will pay for all of these goodies out of the profits of the evil health insurance companies, the salaries of greedy CEOs, the obscenely huge piles of wealth grabbed by businesses, and the selfish highest-income earners, who are mostly “Party of No” Republicans.
But just as children find out about Santa Claus’ true identity, Americans will find out what Harry and Nancy are really all about. Just as something cannot be created from nothing by elves, health care, a clean environment and world peace cannot be fabricated from the loot of boogeymen.
When the profits of health insurers prove inadequate, CEO salaries turn out to be a drop in the bucket, businesses lay off workers because of higher taxes and high-income earners stop working, Americans will be presented a bill for all their goodies — in the form of more and higher taxes and fewer and smaller freedoms.
Dreams of sugar plums are for children. Grown-ups pay bills.

Fellow Doers of Good - (those who cast in favor of Obama) Thank God for Reid and Pelosi and finally a few who place the American people first and foremost and not stupid war in a land 8000 miles away by CriminalBush. Also a Democratic Congress that will hopefully put Americans here at home first, not Wall St., trillion dollar tax cuts for the rich and tax breaks for corporations. Thanks, and go out and try to see the light.
The only losers under Obama, Greid, and Pelosi Health Insurance destruction is you the taxpaying health care consumer would will pay more for less.
Earlier this year, the White House announced agreements under which hospitals and the drug industry promised cost savings in return for the overhaul's expected expansion in the number of insured patients. President Obama and top aides met frequently with lobbyists and health care industry heavyweights as his administration pieced together a national health care overhaul, according to White House visitor records obtained under a FOIA request by The Associated Press.
Over 575 lobbyists have negotiated their own Payola deal with the Democrats. Here are a few:
Barry Rand the AARP group chief executive
George Halvorson, chairman and CEO of Kaiser Health Plans;
Scott Serota, president and CEO of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association;
Kenneth Kies, a Washington lobbyist who represents Blue Cross/Blue Shield,
Billy Tauzin, head of PhRMA, the drug industry lobby;
Richard Umbdenstock, chief of the American Hospital Association,
Laird Burnett, a top lobbyist for insurer Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc
Joel Johnson, a lobbyist with United Healthcare Services Inc. and Kinetic Concepts Inc., a medical products maker
Dr. J. James Rohack, the AMA's president
Richard Trachtman, who lobbies for the American College of Physician Services Inc., which represents internists.
While Harry Reid and Big Health providers are getting rich with their new entitlement customers per the CBO private insurance premiums are going up
Over 51% of the people oppose the Reid and Pelosi bills. Just 31% favor those bills
I'm glad Fosimmons is using fellow doers of good. It sounds more positive. Let me get my cape on and up, up and away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dear Harry Claus, can you get me that 36 pack of Bud Light you said you promised me at tax payers expense. To Nancy Claus can you get birdie a new cage.
Over 51% of the people oppose the Reid and Pelosi bills. Just 31% favor those bills
Untrue, not accurate, distortion of facts! Just Google or type in to your search bar: http://enwikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi/propaga...
Senator Reid and Congresswoman Pelosi when, oh when will you be real political leaders and drop your government sponsored health insurance and take up the same plan you have designed for us?
Come on, now you say this plan is wonderful for all of the rest of us, but why not you in the government, Congress and this administration? Give us all one great big public explanation why you cannot, will not and never will join the same plan you have prepared for us?
You both claim to be great leaders, and apparently know and want the best for all of us, the taxpayers of America, but not for youselves? Really? You must be so brave to shun this plan in favor of the Congressional Health Plan that assures all of you endless benefits for life long after you retire or are retired by the people. You clain the government cannot afford this same exact plan for all Americans because it would bankrupt the USA. Well, sacrifice a little and join us in the plan you deem so wonderful for all of us. WE cannot afford to continue to pay for your government coverage no matter how brave, intelligent, thoughtful, generous and gregarious you are.
I look forward to hearing your brave, public announcement that you and your collegues will soon join us in this new "Change For America" health care coverage you have planned for us.
Good Luck in the 2010 Elections...Seniors and other taxpayers will not forget you.
Obama burned all of his post-erection political capital on the failed health care deformation. The mid-term erections next year will be a disaster for the prolifigate-spending democrats and their almost equally-culpable republican cousins.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 56% now oppose the plan. Just 38% of voters now favor the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That's the lowest level of support measured for the plan in nearly two dozen tracking polls conducted since June.
Now birdie says that the economy is ruined for a generation. I thought Obama was going to fix this thing?
Democrats are just different kind of liars.
Obama promised jobs and so far has failed.
Obama promised to bring the troops home and now he's sending more troops to Afghanistan.
Obama is a liar.
Dear Santa Obama, since santa Reid is not gonna bring the Bandit a 36 pack of Bud Light can you make a special delivery to the Bandit.
Your best friend; Oprah Winfey
vsestini. I have a book that you need to read. It's called " it's not all flowers and sausages" by Mrs. Mimi. It's a teachers book. Got it at the library. Enjoy!
I want my free healthcare! It is the government's obligation to give it to me. Otherwise I may have to give my skiboat, my ski condo in Utah, my SUV, my 60 inch big screen, my direct TV subscription with all the movie and sports channels ($200+ a month), my BMW, and my Harley Davidson. You owe it to me because I don't have enough left at the end of the month to pay for my healthcare. Priorities you know.
Hey jib101: Don't forget your high-maintenance girlfriend. HA-HA-HA / That way you can Obama-size it!
Which girlfriend? They are all high maintaince.
I think one flew out of the cuckoo's nest for birdie dreamin, don't you realize that they are all screwed up. The Republicans, Democrats and the Independents, they are all into it for the money. They could care less about the common people, its all about the rich, always has been, always will. You can raise taxes on the rich and all they will do is send on down the line to the common folk. What a joke! Keep on drinking the kool-aid.
The Rasmusson poll is a Republican poll,totally
useless.
The majority of Americans want and need health
care reform.
These greedy, lying right-wingers don't care
about their fellow Americans.
They will lose big in 2010.
gregory: the similarities among your posts are astounding. I've deduced that you are a union organizer. But why?
As the debate over healthcare reform intensifies, the latest USA Today/Gallup poll finds that more Americans disapprove (50%) than approve (44%) of the way U.S. President Barack Obama is handling healthcare policy.
Larry, you can poll till your blue in the face.
Your wrong and on the wrong side of life.
