Fatal collision
A motorcyclist was killed in North Las Vegas this morning after he was struck by a pickup truck traveling at speeds of more than 100 mph, police said.
North Las Vegas Police responded at 12:20 a.m. to the report of a crash on Craig Road just east of North 5th Street. Investigators said the 2001 Chevrolet truck, driven by 21-year-old Emmanuel Gordian, was eastbound at a high rate of speed when it struck the rear of a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle that also was eastbound on Craig.
The 26-year-old motorcyclist was ejected, then struck by a 2003 Cadillac CTS. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. No one else was injured.
Police said Gordian ran from the scene after the collision but was taken into custody at about 3:40 a.m. and booked into the North Las Vegas Detention Center on one felony count of reckless driving with death and one felony count of leaving the scene of an accident with death.
Investigators are trying to determine whether alcohol also played a factor in the crash.
This is the sixth fatal traffic collision this year in North Las Vegas.

To ride a motorcycle in this city is brutal. That being said, When being mowed down by a truck going 100 mph, Any vehicle is doomed! Man this sucks, GOD bless this man and his family.
Emmanuel escaped capture for 3 hours? I hope it is the last time he is out of jail. R.I.P. Mr. Motorcyclist.
NHP and Metro travel over a 100mph and kill people, and it is no big deal.
My condolences to the motorcyclist...what a mess.
My condolences to the motorcyclist and his/her family.
Emmanuel Gordian is a murderer should get the death penalty.
I hope they throw the book at this guy. A motor vehicle is a deadly weapon in the wrong hands, and I think the truck driver should get twenty years without the possibility of parole. Then no drivers license EVER when he get's out..
Mred, you have it all wrong, they travel over 100mph and kill themselves, not others. That is the difference... this Gordian guy is a douchebag that needs to be beaten and/or stoned to death.
Give me a pliers and 5 minutes with this animal... he won't harm anyone ever again.
My sincerest thoughts and prayers to the family of the deceased. Another innocent victim. While it doesn't help any, I'm sure your loved one is truly in a better place.
if he is under influence of anything legal or illegal he should prosecuted to full rxtent of the law no plead bargaining
We need a change in laws - Something like this should be Murder 2 at a very minimum, maybe even Murder 1 - Chances are he will spend a couple of years in jail and that is all. Driving on a street at 100 MPH? This guy should never see the sun shine again. At least not for 30 years.
100 MPH? Honestly.
Have a great time in prison!!
A guy named Emmanuel fled the scene? Unheard of.
I bet he has no insurance and no license.
Look at 35 years in Lovelock for this alcholic killer. At least a coffee and donut unit got there in time to get enough info to get the killer. RIP victim.
"Give me a pliers and 5 minutes with this animal... he won't harm anyone ever again."
It's almost funny how you distinguish yourself from the animal.
He was running from his barber what a haircut !
Let me guess.....He'll be DIAGNOSED as an alcoholic, and be sent to Prison, required to attend "How do you feel?" group therapy nonsense & insane 12-step Religious cult AA meetings and everything will be all better. He'll emerge from prison in 3 years (4 years early because "HE'S BEEN SAVED") spewing "One-Day-at-a-Time" & "I'm in Recovery" & "I'm going to a meeting" .....
UNTIL HE WIPES OUT AN ENTIRE FAMILY BLOWING.03 BAC in FLAMES!
We had a motorcyclist friend who died the same way. The sad thing will be that the driver of the truck will be carrying only the minimum amount of liability insurance, and that he will have no assets except the crashed truck and perhaps a collection of crack pipes.
Knowing courts and lawyers, he'll be out to kill more people in a couple of years.....he should havae DIED

Looks like a long leap to me, from the facts in the article to the rant about possible rehab and the race of this man.
Facts are that a fellow man was killed on the road and I feel sorry for those who mourn him and hope that he indeed does go to a better place.
Another fact is that the man who killed him pushing several tons of metal on a public road at 100 mph.
You can take any mitigating factors you like, possible drug use, booze, anything at all.
He shoved that vehicle along at that speed, not caring what happened, showing no compassion or respect to the rights of others, principally the right to life, and in total disregard of any law.
Then he killed an innocent man, he ran from the scene.
The one accurate label for this man is that he is a murderer and that he should be tried as such.
Or give him a ten second start before a jury of bikers.
Follow the evidence, I just hope the officers don't drive around carrying the evidence at 100 mph and without lights and sirens. We all need to slow down - a guy honked at me today as a pedestrian because he had to stop at a stop sign because I had the right of way. What a wonderful world we live in!
what a piece of work, i suppose he's an illegal to boot. You would think the hispanics that are legal would want something done about the ones that are not, put a bad name on the whole bunch. Very sad for the innocent motorcyclist, take the scum out back and save all the taxpayers some money.
Man, this town.
The man killed in this accident was my nephew. He was a SSGT in the Air Force stationed at Nellis. He was a great guy with a full life ahead on him. There is no excuse for this.... I hope the law throws the book at his killer.
Please pray for his family....
Flying down a major street at fifty five miles over the speed limit ought to be considered premeditated. Under the influence or not, this person chose to get in his vehicle, chose to drive recklessly, chose to plow into a motorcyclist at a hundred miles per hour, then chose to flee the scene on foot, and should be tried as a murderer. If I had my way, he would be taken in front of his victim's friends and coworkers for a little shotgun justice.
Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it) we live under a judicial code of law based on establishment of intent. And this person, for all the sickening political correctness implied, will be seen as a victim of impulse, probably intoxicated, unable to control himself. This is bull, and you know that justice will not be served. A few years behind bars plus probation won't replace the life so undeservedly snuffed out. Murderers deserve to be punished under the harshest penalties of the law for their crimes.
Mred, you're pretty pathetic aren't you?
Cheezy stache.
It's Sadaam Hussiens son!!!
you can thank liberals for this.
they are so "be nice to everyone" that there is no deterrent to crime anymore.
if people knew...KNEW...they were going to get life in prison for drunk driving...they'd never do it.
Take a look at his picture..this country is doomed. In 1965 Ted Kennedy opened the door of this country to the third world and this is what we get. Obama, Reid and Pelosi want to give the country to these people. It should be all out war against the Democrats and liberals.
My brother was killed in a similiar manner. The murderer was doing 70MPH while running a red light. Hit and run. He is eligible for parole after two years.
By the way, he is also serving his sentence consecutively with an identity theft charge. The DA, nad the prosecuters are a joke.
The defense attornery told me in court, I was overreacting, when I said I was suffering a deep depression, due to my brother's death.
NHP killed other people, 1) ramming into a Cadillac of illegals on I15 killing 4 people,
2) Vehicle with NHP testing positive for pot killing an innocent female motorist on Decatur.
So this guy should get 2 years like the badge guys got.
how do they know he was going 100,condolences to the victim annd family
To all of the bigots out there, what makes you think this guy is anything but a citizen? Or do you racists just know what a citizen looks like? And then you are going to blame 'liberals' for this? What happened to all of your vaunted 'personal responsibility' nonsense that you are always spewing?
Bodytalk wants to declare an 'all out war' on democrats? Brilliant, bumpkin. What does that even mean? That you are going to cry, moan and complain? Maybe listen to hannity and then drink a beer, coward? Here is an idea: study the history of this country and maybe take a trip to the Statue of Liberty, let us know if you learn anything.
Clearly the same group of ill informed, bigots and hand wringing, pseudo-patriots is still rabble rousing on the Sun comment section.
the speeder looks like our enemy in afghanistan.
This young man was my son. To all of you with children that live away from home, call them and tell them that you love them.
Those of you that chose to make jokes on this comment page or make political statements, remember someday the story may be about you or one of your loved ones. Show some respect.
As for this low life, may he rot in hell. He has destroyed a young man's life who enlisted to serve his country and protect the very rights that allowed you to make your choice. You have torn our hearts from our chests.
Those of you who knew our son and those that didn't, thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
He looks like a little punk to me
I love riding my bike and used to live right by where the accident occured and if I ever come back I'll probably not ride. Most likely if somebody hits me they won't have enough insurance. Motorcyclists have bad luck in Vegas. Keep the odds stacked on your side and don't ride. Condolences to the victim's family.
I watched my father suffer for two years and die from cancer (he was a lifelong smoker), but as he always said (ironically, given this story) "anyone could walk outside a get hit by a truck - the only difference is I have some idea when I'm going to die."
We can wring our hands all we want, but no amount of bigotry, hatred, narrow-mindedness, vengeance, medical care (state provided OR private insurance!), mob mentality justice, punishment or legislation can stop the simple fact that we all will die.
Life is too short and fast to waste it on politics. You'd be better off using the time you spend commenting here to call your loved ones.
My condolences to both families in this tragedy, particularly those of the victim.
dipstick, those camels must be fast in afghanistan.
Is this guy a Metro cop?
My condolences and thoughts and prayers go out to the 2 family members who took the time to comment on this page. Hopefully you can disregard the people who joke and give useless comments on this page.
I am the brother of the motorcycle rider, and all I have to say is Emmanuel Gordian is extremely lucky that my entire family lives on the east coast. For my family and I loved my brother very much and he lived a very respectible life in the Air Force. So I ask that all of you think before you speak on these comments for the loved ones of this great man are reading some of these.
VWRabbit07 : Please don't take these comments to heart. No, they did not know your brother. They have no idea from which they speak. It is a life lost for no reason......at all. For that you and your family are in my heart. As this unfolds in the months ahead concentrate your love towards your brother who is not suffering anymore.
Driving 100mph on a city street is reason enough to get a long sentence, since it led to the death of an innocent driver, who was no doubt trying to be "safe" by driving at the speed limit and obeying the laws, like his parents taught him. One also has to feel for the Cadillac driver who had to witness this tragedy in a horrible way.
Ruffinbob, and VWrabbit, my heart goes out to you and the rest of your family. I can't imagine getting that call. You are in our prayers. May I take this note to personally thank you for the son and brother who served our country. He is a real hero, Even though I never knew him. God bless your family.

May god have mercy on that murderers soul.. cause i know those of us who work with the victim, hung out with him, loved and cared for him deeply wont... Not only did this guy take him from his family and friends but the entire world.. He was an amazing airman who served his country to the best of his ability.. there is a giant void that no one else can fill. to his family....we at nellis afb grieve with you and thank you for bringing a wonderfull person into our lives.
When is this killer's trial? The victim's family lives on the East Coast? We can represent them at the trial and on this forum. No amount of justice can bring their loved one back. But those of us who care can show it. We need to do what we can to make sure people pay for their crimes.
Thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of the deceased.

so they should make a law..if your doing 1 mph pass the speed limit..and you hit someone..you should get Charged w/ attempted murder..and if the person Dies' u get charge w/ Murder....so if u ever caught speeding..even if u was tryin to rush to the hospital cuz heard yo daughter just had a heart attack....and u felt like driving fast..and hit somebody.. u should GET ATTEMPTED MURDER chrge....and have your picture up on here..
first off let me say god bless the guy who lost his life and his familey! One of my friends allmost got hit by the guy in the truck they seen him speeding in the rear view mirror and moved out the way he said the guy allmost side swipped him, then when the truck past them they seen a whole bunch of smoke or dust and debri,That's was when he hit the guy on the bike. They had to stay on the seen for a couple of hours and give reports to the police..My words I hate sppeders why because they put everone lives in danger!!
Hey Books!
I agree, I'll bet he has no insurance, and is probably illegal to boot.
That is how they drive in Mexico you know. Ever been to Mexico City? Don't step off the curb, you'll be mowed over in seconds flat.
Check his immigration status, then deport his ass!
peepgame, this idiot was not going 1 mph over the limit as you state in your comment. He was going more than DOUBLE the limit. That was a flagrant violation of law and common sense. His actions caused a family of decent people to lose a fine son/brother/ nephew/cousin. etc. There is NO indication that the driver (who fled the scene) was racing someone to the hospital in an emergency. Hopefully he will spend a lot of time behind bars for his actions. My heart goes out to the good people in North Carolina for this terrible loss.
RuffinBob, please accept my sincerest condolences on your loss. Earlier this month, I was one that actually made a political comment when the police officer died. I won't ever do that again. The repeat offenders that continue to advocate their party's reputation through someone else's tragedy makes me ashamed. I know that by my saying bless you and your family will do nothing to ease the pain or bring your son back but please know that my deepest sympathies are with you.
