LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Reid gives Nevada clout on Capitol Hill
Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 | 2:02 a.m.
I lived most of my life in a state where the operative political word was “clout.” I’ve now lived in Nevada for more than a decade and am amazed at the blinders some of our more vocal citizens wear.
Nevada has been a national stepchild for years. For specific evidence, see the federal law that gave us the Yucca Mountain project instead of giving it to Texas, a state with clout.
Nevadans today have the majority leader of the U.S. Senate. Actually, given Sen. John Ensign’s problems, we have only one effective voice in the upper chamber.
Now we have people who want to eliminate Nevadans’ clout in the country, not for reasons of Nevada’s benefit, but for the politics of no. Some people are shortsighted and easily led by people who are out for themselves and their conception of political activity. Whatever Sen. Reid does or fails to do, he is a major player on the national scene and is our security against another “screw Nevada” bill.

Too big to fail Senator Harry Greid continues to do nothing for Nevadans or the nation.
His power grab over the weekend was an embarassment - paying a Democratic Senator $100 million of taxpayers money to buy a vote.
Reid's health insurance bill will cost $849 billion plus the $247 billion "doc fix" plus the $490 billion taken from seniors Medicare or $1.587 trillion each year.
It still will NOT cover 6% (18 million) of the people.
The public option will only cover 1.5% (4.5 million) of the people.
For $1.5 trillion we have not solved much.
Harry continues to produce inept laws
Future, you are mean spirited, politically blind, beliver of lies and or an author of lies. The little people of Nevada see Sen. Harry Reid for the good and sucessful politition that he is. I an just a little person but I vote, and most of the little people will vote like me for the reelection of Sen. Harry Reid. It is really easy to throw out false figures and statements that look real but are only lies, authored by a person hidden behind a username like Future. Sooo, what's your REAL name?

Wow, this person has lived in Nevada for a whole "decade". Maybe if he had lived here a little longer he would know the "screw Nevada" bill was put forth by Harry Reids fellow Democrats.
Aw, c'mon, Birdie...now you're just copying and pasting...
What is good about having clout if he will not use it to represent the citizens of Nevada's wishes? Poll after poll have shown that a majority of Nevadans do not want the government messing up our healthcare. Harry Greid continues to try to ram it down our troats by any means possible. He does not represent me in any way shapr or form. Dump Harry in 2010.

I wish I could make an intelligent comment.
Nevada is near the bottom of getting Federal tax dollars returned back to the state on a per capita basis.
Nevada is near the bottom on getting stimulus money.
According to all legit polls, a majority of Nevadans are against ObamaCare and yet Reid uses his "clout" to help the lib causes and not listen to the majority of the citizens.
Like where is the beef....is more like where is the clout?
listen up boys and girls...
sadly...
most sadly...
our stupid pathetic lying republican friends are slow...
very slow...
terribly terribly slow...
in fact...
i used to use another word to describe them...
it begins with an "r"...

so you see...
being as slow as our stupid pathetic lying republican friends are...
they have to be told something over and over and over again...
before it begins to sink in...

oh by the way...
who the hell would want to join the stupid pathetic lying republican party these days...
only l-o-s-e-r-s!!!
Over 51% of the people oppose the Reid and Pelosi bills. Just 31% favor those bills
Both the House and Senate bills sets up a new entitlement program that grows at 8% annually as far as the eye can see--faster than the economy will grow, faster than tax revenues will grow, and just as fast as the already-broken funding of Medicare and Medicaid programs.
For $1.5 trillion for something we start pay for now but will not see the benefit of for 5 years -- 2 years after Obama is out of Office.
David Broder of the Washington Post says The specific budget gimmick is that Reid has delayed the subsidies "from mid-2013 to January 2014 -- long after taxes and fees levied by the bill would have begun."

We have not solved much.
Harry Reid has continued to lie to us about Nuclear Power
- With over 100 plants in the US and hundreds more overseas operationing safely and producing "green" power it is wrong for Harry Reid to call it unsafe. France produces over 70% of their power form Nuclear. Even TMI-1 has been given a life-extension license
- In fact the Harry Reid Senate's "Cap and Trade" energy bill is dependent on a major expansion of Nuclear Power.
- Obama is meeting today to give India Nuclear Power Plants
- To date the NRC has reported NO findings in their review of the Yucca license Application. Not even a question about fault lines. Led by Sandia Five major national science lab prepared the License application. Chu and Obama never said that Yucca was bad just that they hoped for "a better solution".
- Harry Reid's high level radioactive storage "blue ribbon" committee has provided no alternative to Yucca Mountain. It is hard for Harry Reid to find a "better" alternative to Yucca.
- The NRC has said the spent fuel could be stored safely at 100s of plant sites and Harry Reid has agreed to this solution to storage of high level waste.
- A typical coal IGCC fired plant uses 340 gallons per megawatt hour; a nuclear plant ranges from 430 to750 gallons/MWh; and a solar parabolic trough plant typically uses 840-1000 gallons/MWh. So nuclear power is much better than solar on water consumption.
Because of Harry Reid to we have people like Birdiedreamin afraid or perhaps incensed to the point where Birdiedreamin believes "we simply don't want our children to glow in the dark..." There is no report of any children, in any country, even France, glowing in the dark.
It is clear that Harry Reid is in this only to be re-elected again in 2010, and to sell his huge land holdings at outsized profits for land and water consuming solar power.
Harry Reid is not a friend of any taxpayer. Tax and spend Harry is about himself, always his image as the Nevada savior of the people. What has he actually done that is absolutely so great for Nevada, all Nevadans, or for that matter any one Nevadan?
Harry, we the seniors will vote for you when you declare before the nation that you are taking the same health insurance plan as the rest of us, not your very select and special congressional health insurance. Do that Harry, and I assure you you will win the reelection bid hands down. Harry, do you have the courage, real guts to do just that? No, you are a snivling coward, gutless and greedy like the rest of the politicians in Washington, D.C.
As far as I am concerned my vote will be to send you back to Searchlight, Nevada to pick weeds out of our lawn. You were such a lousy lawyer you had to go into politics to steal enough money to survive. I doubt you will be able to make in private practice even now.
I have to disagree with you Mr. Malkin. Senator Reid has been in the Senate since 1987. I think he has become complacent in his 22 years of service believing that the voters will excuse or forget his votes in the senate. I don't think Senator Reid is all bad, but I believe his ignoring his constituents on the healthcare issue is enough to unseat him.
The letter begins with an "R", well Pat I'm gonna guess the puzzle and say " Respectfull".

Harry Reid boasted about being able to raise $25 million for his re-election and his ads state he is the most powerful senator Nevada has ever had. Money and power are what's important to Harry Reid. He has sold us out and he will continue to do so at every opportunity.
The generalizations are all you hear from the left. Please, right here - provide a list of the things Reid has done for our state.
Earle Malkin - please tear up your voter registration card. It's the least you can do for society. And I assume you'll have the good sense to refrain from reproducing.
Harry Reid is more of a man than those greedy,
lying Republicans who are trying to block health
care for their fellow Americans.
After ruining our economy, Republicans should
not be allowed to run a popcorn stand.
THANK GOD FOR HARRY REID.
