Bank Robbery

Metro Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred early this afternoon in the eastern Las Vegas Valley.

Officers responded to the robbery at 1:14 p.m. at the Chase Bank in the 2200 block of East Tropicana.

The robber handed a note to one of the tellers and demanded money, Metro spokesman Ramon Denby said.

Two customers at the bank noticed that a robbery was occurring and called police, Denby said. The customers got into their cars and followed the suspect until a police car could follow in pursuit, Denby said.

The suspect's vehicle hit a marked police car, went up on a curb and hit a parked car, Denby said. The crash happened near East Mesquite Avenue and North 15th Street, where he was taken into custody without incident.

The man had a felony federal warrant out for his arrest, Denby said. His name hadn't been released this afternoon.
